Soul Asylum at CBGB in 1990 or 1991
I can't remember when I shot these. I don't think I was shooting too many bands until 1990. My dim memory is that this was around the time they were recording And The Horse They Rode In On. They were almost always at CB's when we went to see a show, and this might have been them trying out new material but I can remember that they played some of the Hang Time hits as well. Again, this is a compilation of several images. I shot this way because I didn't have a fancy camera and I liked the idea of getting in the whole band and the place- a low rent cinemascope. I was a huge fan of Hang Time. At CBGB the bathrooms were downstairs behind the stage, so that area needed to be kept a little clear. There was room up agains the stage or against the wall but not really both. Often times I'd position myself there to get pictures because in front of the stage it was often hard to get the whole band and it could get pretty pushy as well.
