PETE WARSHAW

Making something interesting from what can be seen every day

I have been interested in photography since high school when my Uncle Mal, an award-winning photographer, gave me a Minolta SLR and a couple of lenses and said, “Go to it.”

From then on photography has been my medium of choice – creating and collecting.  But it remained a hobby until my work retirement and my wife’s death intersected.  The resulting months opened up a need for more creative expression.  Photography grew into a passion.

I grew up in New York City during the vibrant and disturbing ‘60s.  I moved frequently – New Jersey, Utah, Missouri, Michigan, Ontario, back to New York, and now North Carolina.  This and my extensive travel have given me a deeper perspective about people and the world.  I’ve tried to reflect that in my photography.

My work is eclectic, consisting of reworked images from my archive and new ones.  I release a new series of photographs in my website, PeteWarshaw.com, about every two months.
