Georgia Paige Welch
I am a painter, printmaker, and installation artist working in Durham, NC. I make portrait paintings and figurative prints that lean into intense color, pattern, and contrast. Thematically, my work revolves around the tension between freedom and constraint I find in my own life experiences with gender roles, mental health, and creativity.
I install mini-exhibitions of my work and hold events at my storage space turned gallery in the Ample Arts District. I teach screen printing workshops at Super G Print Lab, near the Goldenbelt Arts campus. The best way to keep up with me is to join the newsletter through my website.
My work explores the tension between constriction and freedom I experience in the contexts of my identity, mental health, and surrounding political conditions.
